एक दिन सुबह-सुबह मोहन की पत्नी सविता ने बड़ी मासूमियत से पूछा—
“सुनते हो, अगर मेरी एक ख्वाहिश पूरी कर दो तो मैं उम्र भर खुश रहूँगी!”
मोहन थोड़े डर गए, सोचने लगे—
कहीं फिर से कोई महंगा फोन या विदेश यात्रा की बात न कर दे…
मोहन ने हिम्मत जुटाकर पूछा,
“ठीक है, बोलो क्या ख्वाहिश है?”
सविता बोली,
“मेरी बस एक छोटी-सी इच्छा है… मुझे ऐसा पति चाहिए जो मुझे रोज़-रोज़ गाड़ी से घूमाए, फूल लाकर दे, और मेरी हर बात माने।”
मोहन मुस्कुराया और बोला,
“तो फिर मुझे भी एक छोटी-सी ख्वाहिश पूरी करनी होगी…”
सविता बोली, “वो क्या?”
मोहन बोला,
“बस तुम बता दो कि ये सब करने वाला पति पड़ोस वाली कल्पना दीदी कहाँ से लाती हैं, मैं भी वहीं से ले आता हूँ!”
सविता गुस्से में बोली:
“अच्छा! आज मेरी ख्वाहिश तो रह गई, पर तुम्हारी आज ‘ख्वाइश’ पूरी कर दूँ? खाना बनाते हुए बेलन भी चलाऊँ क्या?”
मोहन तुरंत बोले—
“नहीं-नहीं, रहने दो। मैं ही रोज़ गाड़ी भी चलाऊँगा, फूल भी लाऊँगा… बस बेलन नीचे रख दो!”
और इस तरह मोहन ने सीख ली—
पत्नी की ख्वाहिश पूरी करो, वरना उसकी ‘ख्वाइश’ नहीं… उसकी ‘क्वाइशें’ पूरी कर देंगी!
