⁣एक गरीब और आलसी ब्राह्मण, जिसे लोग उसकी सुस्ती के कारण "अढ़य्या" (आधा/अधूरा) कहकर चिढ़ाते थे, एक बार राजा के यज्ञ में दान लेने देरी से पहुँचा। उसे दान में सिर्फ डेढ़ पाव चावल मिले, जिस पर पूरे गाँव ने उसका मजाक उड़ाया। इस अपमान से आहत होकर उसने अपनी सुस्ती त्यागने का निर्णय लिया। उसने कड़ी मेहनत की, शास्त्र पढ़े और गाँव के बच्चों को पढ़ाना शुरू किया। अंततः, उसने समाज में उच्च सम्मान प्राप्त किया और उसे "पंडित जी" कहा जाने लगा।
